$120,000 base salary pay plus 20% pooled production calculated based on number of shifts worked monthly
If desired, new graduate DVMs can participate in our Mentorship program which would include a 3 to 6 month period of direct supervision and mentorship from an experienced emergency veterinarian
Additional responsibility taken on by the employee will have a pay rate increase based on the level of additional responsibility

Emergency DVM Inpatient Job Description:
Evaluate, diagnose, treat and manage patients presenting on an emergent and urgent care basis
Formulate treatment plans, and clearly communicate this to both support staff and clients
Perform surgical and other emergency procedures
Document physical exam findings, diagnostic recommendations, diagnostic findings, treatments, client status and outcomes, and client communications
Perform emergency triage and intensive stabilization of patients in critical condition due to physical trauma, severe injury, cardiovascular shock, respiratory distress, cardiac disease, neurological conditions, endocrinopathies, and gastrointestinal difficulty
Engage with clients explaining physical exam and diagnostic findings, differential diagnoses, best medical recommendations and reasons for these recommendations, disease pathophysiology, treatment, prognosis, and ongoing recommendations
Navigate the tension between best medical recommendations and diagnostics/treatments within clients’ financial constraints
Evaluate abnormal clinical signs and physical exam findings, interpret diagnostic tests, compile detailed case reports/records, supervise intensive care, oversee veterinary technicians, assistants and other support staff, and provide consultations on referral cases from the local primary care veterinary community
Work in conjunction with specialists and referring veterinarians on the treatment of hospitalized cases
When on shift, participate in daily rounds of all patients (hospitalized cases during specified rounds, new inpatients to the appropriate hospitalist), as well as M&M, Grand Rounds, and Journal Club
Assist in the teaching of technicians, assistants and other support staff, and, if applicable, veterinarians in the North Springs VRC Mentorship Program
Perform all duties of a veterinarian in a full-service, high-volume small animal emergency and referral hospital
North Springs Veterinary Referral Center (North Springs VRC) is a privately owned emergency and specialty referral hospital located in the beautiful city of Colorado Springs, Colorado. With mountains to the west, Denver to the north, and a close-knit community, Colorado Springs offers a small-town feel, all of the outdoor recreation options, and big city opportunities to meet all interests. Upon opening (July 2023), the North Springs VRC emergency department will be available 24/7/365. Initial specialty services will include cardiology, internal medicine, surgery, radiology, and exotics, with critical care and anesthesiology soon to follow. The 13,000 sqft hospital is designed with separate specialty and emergency entrances and waiting rooms, nine dedicated emergency exam rooms, a large ICU/treatment area for emergency patients, a completely separated isolation wing, a dedicated exam room and treatment area for each specialist, two surgery suites, radiology, endoscopy, and ultrasound suites, and specific spaces for CT, fluoroscopy, and I131 services. There are also designated specialist office space, a specialty phone/call back room, and even a staff pets housing area, among other... amenities for comfort and wellbeing.
