Millersport Small Animal Clinic is a well-established, busy practice which has sustained incredible growth in recent years. We are a fully private practice that is family owned and operated. We provide primary care, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, dental procedures, and limited emergency services during regular business hours. We are located in the upscale suburb of Getzville, New York. We have 3 doctors currently on staff as well as 6 licensed veterinary technicians. We are looking for a Veterinarian who thrives in a busy environment and is flexible. Our practice is exclusively small animal and is roughly 65% canine and 35% feline in make-up. We are currently undergoing building expansion that will bring our room total from 4 to 7. We have a surgery suite, treatment areas, digital dental and general xray, ultrasound, Idexx reference lab and in- house CBC, Chemistry and UA analyzers. We maintain a well stocked in house pharmacy. The greater Buffalo/Niagara region has all of the amenities of a much larger city with a small town feel. We boast diverse neighborhoods, short commutes, excellent dining and food culture, distinctive and historic architecture, two professional sports teams, and low cost of living. We are located 30 minutes from the Canadian border and 2 hours from Toronto making weekend adventuring easily accessible. We have nearby access to two great lakes, the Niagara River and one of the seven wonders of the world.
Associate Veterinarian Job Summary The associate veterinarian is an invaluable member of the hospital team who works directly with the practice owners/managing doctors and support staff. This individual advances the quality of medicine in the practice and provides excellent client service to our clients and care to our patients. Job responsibilities include building rapport with clients by gathering information and listening to and empathizing with their concerns. Performing physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures that deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort. The associate veterinarian communicates with clients on topics such as pet diagnosis, treatment plans, preventative health care, and nutritional needs. They maintain client and patient medical/surgical records and make certain that all necessary logs are kept up to date through established hospital protocols. They stay current on new medical information and changes in veterinary medical best practice. They assist in the development of the paraprofessional medical staff and support staff to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service. They will present and maintain a positive and professional image of our hospital in both the veterinary medical community and to the general public. The necessary skills and basic qualifications are as follows; must be a doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM) or hold a related degree from an accredited university. Their licensure must be in good standing to practice in the state of New York. The must be committed to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics. They will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. They must be able to work collaboratively with hospital team members in a positive and constructive way. They must be able to make medical decisions confidently and efficiently while managing their time and tasks appropriately. They will model a professional and courteous manner at all times with all staff and clients. They must have a commitment to ongoing educational development and growth. The candidate must be a graduate of an AVMA accredited program or have successfully passed the ECFVG certification program or the PAVE certification. Qualifications
