Virginia is for lovers – animal lovers! Our beautiful, privately owned hospital located in the city of Fredericksburg is seeking to add an experienced CVPM or equivalent to manage our growth.

Our doctors perform surgery two days a week, see appointments for sick, urgent and well visits. Our practice sees dogs and cats. We have monthly paid wellness plans to help our clients afford excellent preventive care. Dentistry is high on our list of importance. We have all the equipment needed to support quality care such as digital x-ray, digital dental x ray, in house lab, surgical laser, and ultrasound. We are currently 2 DVMs but one is moving to care for an elderly parent, so we are also hiring for 2 associate veterinary positions to bring us up to 3 doctors.
Our staff includes LVT’s and highly experienced veterinary assistants properly leveraged to support the doctors. Our practice is paperless using Intravet software. QuickBooks is our accounting software. Payroll is outsourced. We have an app with a loyalty plan and an online pharmacy for our client’s convenience. Our building is well maintained with an excellent floorplan. The Hospital Administrator will have an office shared with our part time bookkeeper (who is amazing). Our facility is immaculately clean and organized and our HA will be charged with maintaining these high standards. Our phones are new and allow call recording for training purposes among other features.
We are located in a growing middle to higher income area so most of our clients have income to provide the quality of care we offer. We do support our clients with ways to afford the care we provide if they need options. After all, we are here to help animals and people.
One of our immediate goals is to become AAHA accredited and since we already practice to these standards we don’t have far to go. If you have managed AAHA accredited hospitals that is a plus for us. We also focus on low stress patient handling and encourage “Happy Visits” for our patients.
Our hiring process is careful and selective. We have worked hard to choose outstanding people as part of our team. Our Hospital Administrator will be just as carefully picked and the successful candidate will have a track record of hiring and maintaining this type of stellar culture. The successful candidate will understand medicine, delight in our patients, enjoy interacting with people and have the communication skills to share their knowledge and empathy equally with the clients and our staff.

The ideal candidate will have experience with human resources, training, marketing, OSHA, financial reporting and inventory management. We are looking for a leader who can grow a practice through creative marketing and community outreach while also monitoring our profitability and keeping a close eye on fees and benchmarks. This is a position where the practice owners want to hand over the reins of day-to-day operations and only be involved in strategic planning and driving medical revenue.
You will receive $1500 in continuing education funds and 4 days off on top of vacation time to utilize for these events. We provide generous paid time off, a health care benefit, and company matching towards an IRA account. We will pay for VHMA and AAHA membership. And then there is the all-important discounted pet care! The work week is 38-40 hours, and you get 6 paid holidays each year. This is a salaried position with a base of 75K with bonuses possible based on growth and net profit along with positive staff culture and retention and client satisfaction. CVPM or Equivilant. At least 5 - 7 years of experience managing a multidoctor veterinary hospital. Successful candidate will have had responsibility for P & L, fee setting along with an understanding of other financial data from Quickbooks and PIMs reports. Human resources success building stellar teams and retaining them along with knowing and following all labor laws. Knowledge of marketing, social media and other digital resources is a focus. Inventory control, OSHA and team safety experience. Experience in setting up and implementing training protocols. Past positions must show the ability to build and grow a practice as demonstrated by growth in revenue and increase in staffing along with client satisfaction documented in reviews. Involvement in stratigic planning is a plus. Leadership skills that allow and encourage team involvement in the systems and protocols that run a practice. Time management that keeps a control over your own schedule while still accomplishing hospital goals. We are NOT looking for a micromanager who can't delegate. We want to see you leverage our excellent team ...not work 80 hour weeks.
