The Animal Medical Center is seeking a veterinarian experienced in general practice to join our Primary Care veterinary team. Board-certification by the ABVP in Canine or Feline Practice or board-eligibility is desirable but not required. In a 4-day work week, clinical responsibilities will include one day of weekend duties and participation in intern training in general and community practice. Primary Care staff doctors provide services to healthy and sick pets including vaccinations, diagnostic workups and management of maladies commonly treated by general practitioners. They also perform spay/neuter procedures and are USDA accredited in order to prepare international health certificates. Primary care doctors interact and refer to other specialty services at the AMC for advanced and specialty care. The AMC is nestled in a large biomedical community with excellent clinical and collaborative opportunities. The AMC offers an advanced endoscopy suite as well as a dedicated dialysis suite, in addition to a state-of-the-art interventional radiology and endoscopy suite. Diagnostic imaging services are available 7 days per week. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are on-site. Our faculty and technician teams offer a broad range of specialties and services including anesthesiology, cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, exotic pet medicine, interventional radiology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, radiation oncology, rehabilitation and sports medicine, and surgery. An in-house pathology service with two board-certified pathologists performs educational autopsies. A commercial diagnostic laboratory housed within AMC operates 7-days per week and includes an on-site clinical pathologist. We also have a social worker dedicated to the human-animal bond and a robust client education and development team. Despite the pandemic, New York City remains one of the most exciting and diverse cities in the world, a center of entertainment, culture, finance, education, and fashion, amongst other industries. Numerous beautiful suburbs, including Westchester, Montclair, Maplewood, and Bronxville, with top-rated public schools are also within an easy commute. There are many outdoor opportunities and creative ways to enjoy the city and surrounding areas. The local environment includes beautiful parks and botanical gardens, interesting local neighborhoods to explore, beaches and bird sanctuaries, hiking, biking, and more both in the city and within a 2-hour drive.
