| PetAid Animal Hospital, a program of PetAid Colorado, is looking to add a full-time and/or a part-time associate veterinarian. We are an AAHA accredited, not-for-profit, high volume, hospital whose mission is to provide high quality, subsidized veterinary care to financially challenged owners. |
Duties and Responsibilities • Perform thorough physical examinations and develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans for healthy, sick, or injured patients using the SOAP protocol • Perform spay/neuter surgeries and preventive medicine • Perform other surgical procedures as needed, as long as they remain within capabilities. • Formulate cost-effective diagnostic/therapeutic plans • Maintain complete and accurate medical records, per AAHA standards, including all patient updates, colleague notes, and client communications • Teach and supervise externs and interns • Oversee the monitoring of anesthetic procedures • Implement appropriate pain management to ensure patient comfort • Advocate for the well-being of animals, reporting abuse/cruelty when suspected • Effectively counsel clients concerning: patient status, fees, treatment options and associated risks, home care, and follow-up • Appropriately follow-up with clients in a timely manner • Use all drugs responsibly and accurately, including controlled drugs and associated logs • Stay current in the veterinary profession by utilizing professional literature and attending local, state, and/or national continuing education meetings • Enter charges into the database and check fees per hospital protocols • Follow hospital safety guidelines in compliance with OSHA standards • Ensure safety of the medical/surgical team by promoting a high standard of aseptic surgical techniques • Use and support safe and appropriate patient restraint, restraint devices, and/or sedation for patient, staff, and client safety
Hospital hours are Monday – Friday (no weekends), 7:00AM–6:00PM, scheduled hours for the full-time associate would be 4 days with a rotating day off during the week and the part-time hours would be 3 days a week.
