Type & Experience Level:
Full Time - One to seven years
DVM or equivalent
The Blue Cross Animal Hospitalis seeking an experienced Associate Veterinarian to join our fast-paced, AAHA-accredited, multi-doctor practice in Amherst, New York.
Blue Cross has a very positive and long-standing reputation in the WNY community - it has a rich history dating back to 1939. We offer modern medicine in a comfortable, personal setting.
Blue Cross is a general practice caring for dogs and cats. We are not an afterhours hospital and do not expect our doctors to be on call. We have 24 hour facilities very close by. We have a great relationship with surrounding specialists, most notably a board certified surgeon and internist only minutes away. We are very fortunate to have a wide array of specialists within 25 minutes from Blue Cross, including the aforementioned, an ophthalmologist, dermatologist, dentist, oncologist, etc.
Some of our in-house diagnostics are: digital/dental x-ray, a new GE Logiq Ultrasound with color doppler, in-house CBC/Chem machines, and soon to arrive Companion CTC Class IV laser.
We are looking for someone to work Wednesday evenings, a full day Thursday and Friday, +/- Saturdays. Full time status requires 30 hours/week. Some perks that our hospital offers for full time employees are health/dental insurance, paid sick leave, 2 weeks’ vacation time, as well as a 401K. A generous CE package (including all dues) is offered to all veterinarians, and we encourage time spent staying current on medical advancements. All vets in the practice have either completed ultrasound training or have practiced at length - we intend to instill this into future associates as well.
The hospital currently has three (3) full time and two (2) part-time vets, all from diverse backgrounds, and all that are great mentors. We have a very positive work environment - this is exemplified by all doctors helping each other when it is requested. A great sense of teamwork is very apparent among the staff veterinarians.
Communication and interpersonal skills are considered paramount in any candidate for this position; our client relationships are strong and we intend to continue practicing this way. We believe strongly in sound client education, and this is exemplified by employees of all positions at Blue Cross.
Salary is commensurate with experience as well as hours at the practice.
